Chocolate is Toxic

I don't know how many are aware of this but I recently read that chocolate is poison to dogs. There is some thing in chocolate that a dogs biochemistry can't handle and can make them very sick. I only mention it because I saw a friend of mine feed his dog some chocolate, I told him that he was going to make the dog sick but he did'nt believe me. I had to find an article on the internet about it and show it to him before he would beleive it.

The more pure the chocolate the more it contains caffeine and theobromine, which are the chemicals most deadly to dogs. SO, baking chocolate, dark chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate are more dangerous than milk chocolate.

I had an Aussie that ate one of those sold Hershey milk chocolate easter eggs. I freaked! I ran up to the vet who said he'd probably puke and have diarrhea but that's about it. Phew! I felt like I dodged a bullet that day! Rolling Eyes

Junior loves chocolate. God, he's as crazy about it as I am Very Happy

But we don't give it too him.. Only few times. And he gets a very very small piece (a bite only) and it's milk chocolate with a small cocoa concentration.

I've thrown an M&M or two at my pups but that's 'bout it!
