Dog won't move when on leash .. did this happen to you?

I remember when Juni was small and had to use a leash for the first time, he would just stop and refuse walk. Did this happen to you? How did you convince the dog to walk?

Never had that problem with Mauser. He can't wait to get going. Especially for a walk, he'll be pulling on the lease and trying to run. We tried dog obedience school with him but he has a mind of his own. Surprised

Using some treats to coax the dog along can do wonders. Puppies don't automatically know what we want when we put a leash on them and it's instinct to try and resist the leash pressure.

I've found that letting a pup drag the leash around the house for a while before you even pick it up helps a lot. Then show the puppy a treat and get him moving, reward for forward movement and ignore any attempt to stop. Most pups catch on quick.
