Microchipping Or Tattoo's

Do you Microchip or Tattoo your animals or use some other form of identification?

Myself as a soon be breeder will Microchip all the puppies before they go to there new homes. My hounds are microchipped and all have photo's taken for Identity here at home and at my Vet office. My Golden never leaves the yard hardly ever leaves the house and her age and health are not at its greatest so not had her done. They all have their tags but collars get lost or stolen that will not help. When figure my hound that is almost fully trained is worth $30,000 or more that $18.00 chip is nothing.

I have microchipped the stray dog in the block yard I take care of. Juni hasn't one and no tattoo since he's not a pure breed (I heard that only pure breed dogs should wear a tattoo)

I will not tattoo a dog..I know some that have done it but if on belly and such gets lost in hair not seen but all area shelters scan dogs for chips.
Maybe something we could talk to lawmakers about and have all shelters chip a animal before leaves a shelter and have grants for it.

Here in NZ the law has just changed, and it must be microchipped before sold now Smile It's the breeders responsibility. And if a dog ends up at the shelter it is microchipped before leaving there.

It's been law in Australia for a few years that all domestic pets must be microchipped. My cat isn't microchipped. Can't be bothered Cool

Mauser was microchipped before he left the Humane Society, where we got him.
