Poem
My best friend closed her eyes tonight,
As her head was in my hands.
The doctor said she was in pain
And it was hard for her to stand.
The thoughts that scurried through my head,
As I cradled her in my arms,
Were of her younger, puppy years
And Oh... her so many charms.
Today, there was no gentle nudge,
With an intense "I love you" gaze,
Only a heart that fills with tears,
Remembering our joy-filled years.
But an angel just appeared to me
And she said, "You should cry no more;
God also loves our canine friends -
He's installed a Doggy Door!"

I couldn't reply to it .. It brought tears in my eyes when I read it and I fled the forums ASAP so that I don't start crying.
Awesome poem, I just feel so sorry for you right now. I am sure she's better now, all the suffering needed to be ended. You did the best thing for her, even if for you is so heart-breaking

This poem was very touching to me. Thanks for sharing it. I know that it had to be hard for both you and your family.

What is harder is I just went to Louisianna and picked up a load of animals that were to be put down and brought memories back and when handed em over brought tears to my eyes.
