Anyone like the new crossbreeds?

Anyone think much of the new breeds they trying like labradoodle and such?

I do not like them at all and not willing to pay for one..I would rather get a good mixed breed from a shelter.

I would do the same. We have so many stray dogs I cannot imagine paying hundreds of USD for a pure breed. I love mixed breeds a lot and some are just awesome Smile

RE: Anyone like the new crossbreeds?

I paid good money for 2 of my hounds but for what they areAKC registered bloodhounds. One great showline other is 1 of the top SAR dogs in the US. We got our bloodhound rescue dog (purebred according to vet by missing teeth that never grew) and when neutered shots and all he cost about 1/2 as much and not great for SAR but still not give him up. We almost got a newfoundland from pound but owner came and got him day before adoptable as they make great water search dogs. My problem is this cross breeding and selling for hundreds of dollars for same thing could get out of th local shelter. Most of these cross breeds they selling are just house pets anyway not a specific use like SAR,Hunting and such. Many pound puppies can make great SAR dogs for air trailing, or for small game hunting , working farm dogs as well as some of the greatest pets on earth. A friend of mine who works with a prison system says they now have took some dogs from a shelter 1 shepard and some labs training for use in the prisons. The shepard is now a trained attack dog and labs are drug and weapon detection training.

This cross breeding in my opinion is just another way for puppy mills to make money and wish all be closed down.

I don't like cross breeding and I agree with dreamhunter that it's just a ploy to get more money.

No I don't, I own A mutt, part lab and part boxer, what would you call that labrabox, I think not. He is a wonderful dog, but he is a mutt, and that is what these cross breeds are. If you want a purebreed then buy one, if you want a mutt aka cross breed don't pay money for them, go to the shelter or rescue and find one that is perfect for you. I also own a Australian cattle dog and a an Australian shepherd who are both pure bred. Purebreds are wonderful dogs, but a mutt is also a wonderful dog, just depends on the owners of said animals.

It's much better to adopt a dog from the shelter.
