After some years of having Junior in my house we had a new doggie in the yard between the blocks. Same size as Juni, just darker. A brown dog, with loving eyes and cute face. And a horrible history.
I know him for 3-4 years (this is the time he's been in the yard) and he was maybe the most scared dog I have ever met. For the first months he wouldn't even bark. We thought he was mute. Well, after some months he did show some voice
We have some neighbours who hit him whenever they had the chance. In Romania the anti dog cruelty law is still "young" and many such monsters are left unpunished. I would kick them, but I'd get into other problems
He didn't allow people to pet him, he was always on the run. We started giving him food and water and we also got a small doggie house built for him. He started eating well and got stronger each day.
Last year he was taken to the kennels and I went after him. I spent a small fortune getting him out of there, but I wasn't willing to let him die. They kill them in there and there are some huge scandals about the way they euthanise dogs (they are killed with wood bats, even burnt alive or put as "training material" for dogs who are used into dog fights. There were some huge scandals lately and these situations are less common, but I fear it's still something done). Anyway .. once in the kennels he's almost dead, so I wasn't OK with this.
He's almost the same age as my Junior and sometimes they clash. They are jealous
.. both eat well and Mofli is more and more confortable with us. My family and few neighbours are the only ones to caress him. He follows us wherever we go and lets us pet him. He's such a cutie, I just wish I can keep him away from trouble as much as I can
