What made you get a doggie or more?
Some are in love with a breed and cannot wait to buy a doggie, others feel sorry for an animal in the shelter and take it home. What's your story?

We'd always talked about getting a doggy, but not when. Well, we'd gone to the pet shop (hubby's 1st mistake), and i'd seen these little puppies in the cage. So i asked if i could have a hold (that was hubby's mistake number 2), and that was it, he came home with us

We always wanted to get a dog but wanted to wait until our son Mike was a little older. We wanted him to learn the responsibilty of owning a dog. Mike would ask us when we were going to get a dog and we would say "we'll see". When we got Mauser for Mike, Mike asked us if it was "we'll see day".

Juni has a long story.
Some years ago my grandma noticed a bump under her armpit and she had it removed. She took medication given in cancer cases and for 5 years she lived with the fear of dying of cancer (even if the exams proved that the bump wasn't that type).
After some years she went to her doctor to get her medication prescription and the doc said she won't give her any more pills. For a moment she was stunned. WHY? am I gonna die? No, the doctor replied: you didn't show any signs of problems in all these years so we think that you don't have cancer and there's no need to take the medication anymore.
She came home and thought for herself "God, you gave me back my life, if only I could do something to repay for this". When she got near our home she saw a skinny puppy she saw lately too. A tall beije pooch with black eyes and nose, beautiful, but so skinny and perhaps sick ... He followed her and she got him upstairs. We always took stray dogs at home and gave them to eat and to drink and then they would go back ... this time was different. After the skinny thing ate some food and drank some water and even a bit of milk it occured to me that maybe we can keep him.
She agreed in the end (realising that maybe this is how can she repay for not having cancer). He remained in our home .. the second day he got sick .. very sick .. we took him to the vet and started the long way from sickness to health. He had internal parasites, fleas and he was weak after so many weeks alone on the streets. My doc said he's 8 weeks old and he'd be OK after we finish the treatment. In few days he was OK ...
It's been 7 years already. Never did we regret having him. My grandma loves him to bits and we all feel like he's our kid. I think I wouldn't give him away for 1 million dollars. He's cute and loving .. a true blessing in my family.
Since Juni is just a happy case, but there are thousands of other stray dogs that die of hunger, extreme cold (we have minus 20 degrees celsius in the winter) and because of some bad people who cannot keep from beating them or running them over with their cars ...
It's the main reason we have LovingDoggies. Don't know .. maybe we'd be able to change something .. at least some of the mentality ...

That is an amazing story. I'm a breast cancer survivor for the past three years. I felt like I got a new leaf on life. I'm involved in my church, my subdivision (I'm the secretary of the Homeowner's Assn in our subdivision), and encourage others at work and whom I meet. I pray for alot of people and their situations.
Junior,
Could I get your address? I would like to send you a Christmas card. My address:

RE: What made you get a doggie or more?
hmm.. the reason we have the doggy is.. my boyfriend. He wanted this doggy very much and i told him that he has to take care of him: feed him, walk him and clean after him. He said yes, anything just to keep him.

RE: What made you get a doggie or more?
I have been around dogs all my life and can't imagine my life without them. I grew up in a household full of dogs. Life would be really missing something without them. I also believe that we have an obligation to care for God's creatures who need our help. So many poor dogs are miserable. We have to do what we can. Even if you can only help one, you are doing a wonderful thing. So I adopted one from a shleter and purchased one from a not-so-good dog breeder so that I could give her a good life.
I think that dogs are a reminder to us that we could learn a lot from them, such as not to worry so much and to love unconditionally. They are truly amazing creatures.

Until they all have a home -- adopt a shelter dog!

The part with the unconditional love is true
Even if my doggy poops all over the place i still love him and i almost cry after i yell at him
I do have to punish him, so he wouldn't do it again but i feel so sorry afterwards..
